The federal Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A.) offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities. Available workforce development activities can benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants into the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities and employers. The purpose of these activities is to promote an increase in the employment, job retention, earnings, and occupational skills improvement by participants.
- The Adult and Dislocated Worker Program aims to increase employment and job retention by provider training and technical assistance. No appointment is necessary, but be sure to bring in the appropriate identification.
- The Youth Services Program serves individuals between the ages of 17 and 21 years (17 year olds must have senior status) and offers services to prepare for additional education, vocational training and/or employment. No appointment is necessary, but be sure to bring in the appropriate identification.
- The Rapid Response Program offers closure/layoff aversion services to businesses and assistance to employees with a rapid return to the workforce.
- The Farmworker Services Program creates paths and opportunities for those seeking greater self-suffiency, independence and dignity through education, training, housing and other services.
