- Placerville Shelter Offers Rabies Vaccination Clinics
The Animal Shelter in Placerville holds low-cost rabies vaccination clinics on the first Tuesday of each month, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Shelter is located at 511 Placerville Dr in Placerville. The cost for each rabies vaccination is $6 per dog, cat, puppy, or kitten. Only cash or checks are accepted. For more info, call the shelter at (530) 621-5795. Learn more about rabies.
Field Services
Field Services enforces state statutes and county animal services ordinances regulating animal care and welfare, investigates citizens' complaints of animal neglect or nuisance, and responds to loose, injured, or dead animals on public property and county roads. Animal services removes dead animals from County maintained roads and provides a service to remove dead animals from private property for a fee as approved by the County Board of Supervisors. Animal Services also inspects and licenses all commercial and non-commercial animal establishments and kennels
Rabies Control Program
The Rabies Control Program investigates all animal bites and human exposures to rabies, provides low-cost rabies vaccinations, and processes licenses for dogs. Learn how you can avoid dog bites, and teach children to be safe around dogs too. Report animal bites or rabid animals.
Shelter Operations
Shelter Operations houses and cares for stray, unwanted, or displaced animals. Every effort is made to place healthy, adoptable animals in new permanent, loving homes. Shelter Operations also coordinates foster home and volunteer programs, educates the community on pet overpopulation, and assists individuals who have lost or found a pet.
